INSTALLER GUIDE

How to find and compare an OZEV-authorised workplace installer

OZEV authorisation is essential when an installer will claim a workplace grant, but authorisation alone does not tell you whether a company is the best fit for a particular commercial site. Compare relevant experience, scope and aftercare as well.

Verify the essentials

Check the current official installer list rather than relying only on a logo displayed on a supplier website.

  • Current OZEV installer authorisation
  • Relevant electrical registration and insurance
  • Experience with comparable commercial sites
  • Use of chargepoint models eligible under the scheme
  • Written warranty and certification commitments

Ask for comparable quotations

Give each installer the same structured brief. Request an itemised response covering survey assumptions, hardware, installation, civils, load management, software, warranty, lead time, VAT and grant treatment.

Look beyond the installation day

Ask who supports faults, how software and connectivity are charged, what happens if the site expands and whether the proposed system can balance load. Ongoing costs are normally separate from eligible WCS installation expenditure.

Keep the shortlist small

Two or three well-matched quotations are usually easier to evaluate than a broad list of generic contacts. Relevant coverage, project size and capacity should shape the shortlist.
